Experienced Criminal Defense Attorney And Victim Advocate

The criminal justice system is complex and stressful. If you have been charged with a crime or have been a victim of a crime, the stress is real and always present. Some of that stress is due to the consequences of a conviction, some due to the complexity and bewildering nature of the process.

I’m Rick Welsh and as a former prosecutor with more than twenty-five years of experience I understand the process. I know the law, what prosecutors look for when deciding how to charge an incident and how they prosecute various charges.

During A Prosecution,
Time Matters

The goal of the police, investigators and prosecutors in the criminal justice system is conviction. Once you have been arrested, the vast machinery of state prosecution builds against you. If you are not familiar with the system, in some cases, without a skilled defense attorney, even outright innocence won’t be enough to protect you.

To level the playing field, you need an experienced attorney on your side, as soon as possible. I’m Rick Welsh, and with decades of experience in the criminal courts of California, I can provide the knowledgeable guidance you need when your future is on the line. I can speak for you with law enforcement, gather evidence, secure witnesses and work to build an effective defense.

The Goal Is Justice

In a criminal case, there are many definitions of “justice.” One role of prosecutors is to see that “Justice” is done. If you’re a victim of crime, you want “justice” for the crime. And if you are charged with a crime, you likely hope for true “justice.” My experience helps me to work for justice for you and your specific circumstances.

I went to law school with the idealistic goal of working for justice. And despite more than 25 years of experience as a prosecutor, I retain that ideal of working for justice. I selectively take cases in my private practice with justice as my goal, helping those accused of crimes as well as victims of crimes under Marsy’s Law.
